FAQS

You make it possible for the RepresentUs movement to fight back against corruption and ensure that we can build a movement that creates a government truly of, by, and for the people. Got questions? We’ve tried to answer some below.

  • What is RepresentUs Education Fund? How is it different from RepresentUs?

RepresentUs Education Fund (RUEF) is a national, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization challenging the undue influence of well-financed special interests over American politics and government. RUEF supports public education, research, and online and traditional grassroots organizing to amplify the issue of dark money in politics and corruption and increase civic participation.

RUEF inspires people to become a part of the pro-democracy movement and empowers them to enact meaningful and lasting change in their own communities. All donations to RUEF are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable under law.

RepresentUs is the advocacy and political arm that supports legislative campaigns in cities and states across the country to pass laws that put power in the hands of voters. It’s through this direct advocacy that we achieve meaningful structural change to our political system, with the goal of making America the world’s strongest democracy by 2050, city by city, state by state. RepresentUs is a 501(c)(4) organization and donations are not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution or business expense.

  • How is RepresentUs funded?

Like many nonprofit organizations, RepresentUs and RepresentUs Education Fund receive sustaining support from monthly donors, individuals, organizations, and foundations. Because we advocate for transparency in political spending, we ask that our own donors be transparent as well.

A full list of donors can be found on our website and is updated annually.

  • How does RepUs spend my donations?

We’d like our impact to tell the story. RepresentUs celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2022, and you can read all about our first decade in this report we created to celebrate that milestone.

  • What are RepUs’s principles on accepting donations?

Funders at every level make the work we do not only possible but excellent. We adhere to the Association of Fundraising Professionals Donor Bill of Rights.

We value trust-based relationships that will allow us to grow with and learn from our donors. We use their investments in our work responsibly and efficiently, and we report our impact in clear terms.
