MinnesotaRanked Choice Voting
Campaign Status: Active
The Policy
Ranked Choice Voting: municipal expansion or statewide adoption
Background
Since 2006, Ranked Choice Voting has been used in a number of municipal elections in places like Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Bloomington, Saint Louis Park, and Minnetonka. In 2023, Minnetonka voters voted to preserve RCV in their city following a high-profile fight.
With RCV success at the local level and following a high-profile pro-voter package passed in Minnesota in 2023, there is now an opportunity for RCV to play a greater role in Minnesota.
